At the end of each month, MTG will provide three client success stories to showcase the value of manufacturing transformation services. MTG’s projects are as varied as its clients. The success stories below show a wide range of geographies, industries, and client needs. MTG honors its client’s confidentiality, so we do not publish our clients’ names unless we are given express written approval.
Medical Device Company: Transparency in Supplier Manufacturing
Manufacturing transformation takes many forms. Sometimes, MTG helps companies completely change their manufacturing operation. However, at other times that transformation can be as simple as gaining a transparency in your supplier’s manufacturing process.
In 2024, MTG had a client that produced a medical device for women’s health. It is a small company and, as such, did not have the resources or the know how to verify their manufacturer. The company hired MTG to assess its current manufacturer and find solutions to the difficulties they were having. When we assessed the manufacturer, we found that it did not follow the best practices (which led to quality issues) and that they had misrepresented their manufacturing facility. The Chinese supplier did not have the correct certifications for the products.
Not having the correct certifications for a medical product is a grave problem. Medical products are highly regulated and require the proper certification to be solid in the United States. Once MTG discovered the problem, the China team provided support to find a new supplier and vet them to ensure that the new supplier meets the client’s need.
MTG quickly found a new supplier and arranged for the transportation of the equipment to the new location. The client was able to manufacture its product in a certified location and gain greater visibility in production.
Mortuary Equipment Manufacturer: Cost Saving through Rework Reduction
Mortuary equipment manufacturer: Cost Saving through Rework reduction
A current client of MTG is a company in the American South that manufacturers equipment used at funeral homes. It is a family-owned business with a number of outdated processes. One of the major challenges is process control. The company struggles with rework from quality issues and with returns.
MTG was able to help this client transform its manufacturing operations and institute a strong quality control system that reduced the defect rate from 40% to 5%. These changes saved the client an estimated $18,000 per week. The client has increased its overall profits and been able to use the increased efficiency to increase its capacity for both new and existing customers.
Mexican Packaging Company: Cost reduction and verification assist for equipment
Many companies are bringing more manufacturing back to their companies. One such example is a Mexican packaging client we are working with. The company previously had sourced most of its products from China. Yet a combination of tariff concerns and quality issues have changed their mind.
The client has a facility in Mexico that they will expand to include more manufacturing operations that require new equipment. MTG proved on-site support to verify the equipment and sent staff to Mexico to help train the client’s operators. This method ensured that there were minimal delays when starting up the new production process. By using support in China, the client was able to move forward more quickly and with more confidence than if it had managed the project on its own.
MTG is constantly helping its clients reach new manufacturing heights. We are looking forward to sharing more of our clients successes over the coming years.
